Quick Thoughts on Leadership: In Turbulent Times
Doris Kearns Goodwin, Leadership: In Turbulent Times, Simon & Schuster 2018 (Hardcover) ISBN: =””
My Review 5/5
Great book that is more a collection of essays looking into the leadership styles of 4 great luminaries. I read this along side Leading Change and it paired really nicely. Contrasting how effective leaders lead change and a blue print for all changes.
Of particular note was the setbacks sections. It was humbling to read about how each leader had serious setbacks in their life. None of them had a straight path ‘to the top’. Two of them LBJ/Roosevelt had taken the VP job only to find themselves trust into the spotlight.
Are Leaders born or made? Do the circumstances make the man, or does the man rise to the occasion? You’ll find all this and more in this great novel. Left me with my favorite book ‘hungover’ sensation.
